I have been accepted into the teacher training program at Conquering Lion Yoga in New York City! I am really excited, I feel this is my opportunity to spread my wings and do something big, and prove to myself that I can. I expect the program to be challenging and life changing in a good way, giving me the experience, knowledge and self confidence to open a yoga studio and become a successful and inspiring teacher. But as a part time bartender and waitress and the mother of four wonderful children, we as a family can't afford to pay for my tuition and travel costs. For me to do this, I need to raise some money.
I have been underachieving most of my life. I've been afraid to take a big leap of faith, and afraid to challenge myself or have a bigger goal than to get through the day and raise happy, healthy kids. I turned forty this past May, and had my fourth baby in March. He is a delight. My husband works hard to feed us, clothe us, keep the roof over our head, and I've gone back to my bartending job. I work at a great restaurant, but, as I said, I'm moving toward middle age, though don't feel it, and am ready to create fulfilling and sustaining work that I can feel real pride in. I want work that dovetails with my life and ideals, and I have a vision for a specific sort of yoga studio that caters to mothering women and their families, creating space for mindfulness and community in busy lives. I discovered the Conquering Lion program this spring, when I attended a couple of classes at Wanderlust festival in Vermont. They resonated deeply with me, with a perspective of service and connection and acceptance that inspired a thought that THIS was the place where I want to learn the specifics of yoga. I'm trusting this voice within, and taking the steps to make it possible. I'm looking for friendly connections in NYC, and financial support. I know how tight budgets can be, and am grateful for any amount anyone can offer, and if it's only the spirit of support, I thank you for that. This will be a big exciting journey for me, and I am in joyous anticipation!
