You Are Not Alone - Short Film

Campaign ends 15/08/2016

You Are Not Alone
is an intimate and poignant character-based drama which opens the door on the hidden world of a quirky UFO abductee support group.
This film is a passion project for its crew with a message we truly believe is more important than ever, and we are buzzing with excitement to work with you in order to bring it to life!

What's It All About?
My name is Luke Erickson, and my background is primarily in theatre, having served as associate producer on 8 productions, among which are sell-outs and award-winners.
I left theatre to devote all of my time to feeding my lifelong obsession of film, and am now in my final year as a film student at JMC Academy in Sydney.

When I met my partner last year, it was downrightspooky how much we had in common, A lot of the time we would have the exact same thoughts, emotions, and - crucially - inclinations as to what we should get for dinner.
So much in common, that is, except for one big thing: she was a lifelong believer of the paranormal, whereas I was a vehement sceptic.
Both of us had to reconcile the fact that the other earnestly didn't believe in  an identity-moulding part of our lives.

Joining me on this adventure is producer Lauren Jones, our cinematographer Toby Fenn,

sound recordist Ben Jones, as well as a terrific support crew.

I wrote You Are Not Alone as an expression of how our preconceived notions about a group of people divert us from truly connecting with one another as humans. In the current sociopolitical climate of racial, religious, gender, and sexual orientation-based intolerance, this message stands as relevant, urgent, and ultimately hopeful.

You can help today by giving what you are able to give. We will respond with an outpouring of gratitude, love, and of course - the rewards!

My crew and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for visiting, reading, and/or donating to our graduate film project.

What Your Donation Gets Us (And You!)
We're asking for $4000 in order to make You Are Not Alone the best it can possibly be.
Your donations will go towards:

Anamorphic lens hire - $2500.
We have chosen to shoot our film in a gorgeous widescreen format in order to make the most out of its shot composition possibilities, but we need fancy lenses to do it!

Location hire - $150.
Most of the action takes place in one room, and we've found a room which is quite affordable!

Actor remuneration - $650.
We want to cover the costs of our actors, so this $650 is for $50 per day  for the 3 day shoot for 3 of the actors, 4 day shoot for 1 of the actors.

Sound equipment hire - $240.
For lapel microphones so we can get the best sound we can get.

Catering - $350.
Filmmaking is hungry work, and we need to keep our cast and crew fueled.

Props & costumes - $100.
We'll be hitting up every Vinnies in town to save on our budget! We already have some props in our mits, too.

Sundries - $10.
Let's be honest, this'll probably be spent on gaffer tape.

= $4000!

This film is getting made whether or not we raise the full amount, (albeit in a much more no-frills fashion) so you may rest assured your full donation is going to make it up on the screen.

In return we've got a whole bunch of fun rewards for our brilliant donors, which will be distributed after the film has wrapped production in mid October of this year.
And aside from those rewards, we'll be keeping in constant communication via our facebook, twitter, instagram, and right here on Indiegogo so you can watch the film coming together.

What If we raise over our goal?
Every dollar over our goal we receive will go into making this film better and better. We would look at hiring an even more beautiful (but pricey) location to film in, more lights, more money for our cast. More everything!
We Believe In This Film
Ultimately, this film conveys a positive message of how much confronting our pre-conceived notions of people can ignite change. It can be an uncomfortable process, but that education ultimately benefits us all.

Our experienced crew has a proven track record in delivering a polished final product, and are poised to inject all of our energy and love into the telling of this story, and would be honoured if you would join us in our endeavour.
