Educational Experience in New York

I am raising money to attend a program called ‘Summer In The City’ at Barnard College in New York. It was amazing to be accepted into this selective program at an Ivy League College. Unfortunately, I was only granted a partial scholarship and with my family’s current financial status, we cannot afford the $5,000 program. Allow me to explain why I find it vital to my education and experiences that I attend this four week summer program. Currently, I am finishing up my eleventh grade year at a private Jewish high school in Memphis, Tennessee. I have never been to New York. This program at Barnard will allow me to take classes in subjects that interest me. I am especially interested in creative writing and film which is why I elected to take the Writing class and the Filmmaking: from Script to Screen class. In the Filmmaking: from Script to Screen class, I will have the opportunity to learn how to write a movie script from beginning to end and film it. These classes would dive deep into the subject so that I can become a better writer and videographer, and take classes on two things that I love. Before I go to college, it is beneficial to explore my career choices that I am interested in. Also, I get to spend three of my Sabbaths in New York. I was excited to find that Barnard has a kosher meal option. I am looking forward to spending time in New York, a diverse city populated with other Jews like me. This program at Barnard would be an experience of a lifetime. This program is truly is a perfect fit for me, and I am hoping that you will agree. Thank you for supporting my aspirations and goals.
