PR Hurricane Relief: Yabucoa Family

Thousands of miles away and resources running out. I am Madeline Lindsay. I am a family member of the Laboy & Gonzalez family, a family living in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, or in recent news the town where the eye of Hurricane Maria hit.
I live in the United States, in Maryland, and unfortunately, I cannot even measure the actual loss and devastation that families like my own are facing in Puerto Rico. The unique challenges that resulted after the passing of Hurricane Maria has left roughly 3.4 million families, an entire island, in the dark (literally). With no power, our families, friends and fellow U.S. citizens are in need of aid.
I have been blessed to hear the news that I haven't lost a family member and that they have food and water as of now, but with the pace of federal aid/government relief, we won't know how much longer that will hold true.
I am raising $2500 to serve the families of Yabucoa, PR. My role is to lead campaign communications and collect the money. I am sending updates to our donors via email and Facebook re: our efforts. Once we raise the money, my mother and grandmother will fly out to Puerto Rico to serve 60+ families in Yabucoa affected by the storm. They grew up in Yabucoa and know the lay of the land. I will send the money to my mother who will buy items on-site to create care packages for the families in need. She will buy essential goods in bulk such as first-aid items, diapers, non-perishable foods, batteries etc. Due to delays with local postal services, and after speaking with locals, we believe the best way to get goods to families in remote areas like Yabucoa will be by going door-to-door with goods.
