Remembering an AMMO legend

Donation protected
As many of you might have heard, we recently lost one of our own. MSgt Ruben Montoya (RET) who recently had tested positive for covid, passed away and although the details are still unclear of his passing, his loss greatly effects the AMMO community. Ruben retired from Ammo as a Master Sergeant, but continued to work as a civilian contractor until retiring a second time to his home just off base in Florida. Not only was Ruben a beacon for new AMMO troops, but he showed everyone around he worked with what the AMMO community was all about. He always made sure to take care of those he worked with; wether by putting together going-away plaques, offering to sew on stripes (“first pair are free “), or bringing in food to share. His passion for life and cheery spirit always followed him wherever he went, and he put his heart and soul into everything he did. He will be greatly missed.

We thought no better way to honor his memory than by trying to collect donations so we could have a plaque or memorial made and installed or hung in the MSA at Eglin. Details about the memorial are still being decided, but we’d like to raise enough to have something made in Ruben’s honor and anything left over would go to his family to help out.

Ruben was a great man, and an extraordinary AMMO troop.  He will be greatly missed, especially by those who had the pleasure of working with him.

RIP Brother, and as always.... If you ain’t ammo....
