Queer Family Needs Help
Donation protected
One of my good friends from high school needs some help. I'm going to let him tell his story in his own words.
"Okay, folks; ironically, this is Pride month. We are a queer family in need of help. Things are tight for everyone, I know. My 18-year-old son needs one final nudge from us, and I desperately need your help! We are a one-income family due to my husband's chronic health issues. Our son has a learning disability; he has always struggled with school and swore he would never go to college, because he didn't think he was smart enough! Well, literally on the last day, he applied to the school of his choice, AND HE WAS ACCEPTED! Honestly, I did not expect things to unfold as they have or so quickly. I'm thrilled, but I'm also terrified that I will not have the $4,000 needed to pay his first tuition payment. This kid has worked his tail off! A black kid from the foster system, on an IEP, who gets into the school of his choice!?! He is on cloud nine. I can handle the expense; it just comes at a horrible time for my family. I need help getting him started this fall. Please help us!"
I understand that this sounds a bit vague, since I've not named any names; though I suspect that some of our mutual friends may be able to figure out for whom I am making this request. I am keeping his name private as he does not want his son to know the actual struggle he is facing right now. I am happy to share specific information if you wish to send me a DM; I only ask that you respect his wishes and do not share the information on Facebook. I'm adding a bit more to the request to offset the fees that the will be associated with this crowd funding request.
