ADA Discrimination
My name is Meghan Dunmore and I am a civil servant in the State of Illinois. I have tens of thousands of service hours in my community, university, parish, Girl Scouts, and our local labor movement. I am also in recovery of PTSD -Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I am a union strong and very proud MVP with AFSCME Council 31, and have had the honor of serving as Chief Steward for Local 2794.
After over 35 years of community service, I am asking for help with:
1. Financial support to cover legal costs
2. The sharing of this fundraiser & crowdsourcing campaign
3. Your positive thoughts and encouraging prayers.
Friday I was walked off my job with a new state department. I was not informed why, but I was instructed to return to a forced leave of absence with my former law enforcement agency.
This agency ,that promotes integrity, service and protection has deemed me "permanently disabled for all position" in its ranks, as well as law enforcement, and most recently, within my job title (excluding me from alternative employment programming).
This comes after filing a federal lawsuit for discrimination. I have since been dismissed from service (with no source of income), denied multiple promotions, had a poor performance evaluation, and been labeled "permanently disabled"; preventing me the opportunity to provide for my family, and leaving me unable to receive contractual, disability, and unemployment benefits for which I am entitled.
Harm continues as I have now paid more in legal fees than I have earned from my annual salary from State service. I have also incurred thousands of dollars of personal debt.
Therefore, I humbly and desperately ask for help this holiday season to support my legal fight against my employer.
I understand if you may not be in a position to help financially, but I will gladly accept your positive vibes, prayers and shares.
Thank you for reading, for your support, and enabling my fight to continue.
