In January 2018 my brother was diagnosed with Stage 3 brain cancer. As you can imagine, this came as a complete surprise to all of us, but no one more than my brother. He had absolutely no warning signs of anything wrong, until one night he had a seizure. No one in life is prepared to receive the news of cancer. The reality is, that bad things can happen to anyone, even good people.
I had no idea how my brother was going to handle having cancer. I have always known he is a smart, strong and determined individual, but what amazed me, was when my brother received the news of his cancer, he didn’t fall to his knees in tears. He didn’t scream into the heavens cursing God for what happened to him. He was calm, calculated. It was as if his training in the Army immediately came back to him. He had a mission, objective, target and battle plan. He was going to do all he could to fight and beat this. My brother has been an inspiration to me. I admire him for the courage he has shown through this. He is inspiration to our entire family.
Cancer, regardless the kind, is extremely expensive, and even with insurance. The reality is, that most people declaring bankruptcy, are cancer patients. This is a sad and disturbing fact, that I recently learned. My brother has a wife and 2 beautiful children. I set up a GoFundMe page, to help raise money for Jonathan and his medical expenses. I appreciate any donation no matter how small. Life is like a roller coaster and sometimes we just want off. However, we can’t always control what happens on the ride. Jonathan has already taught me so many things by the way he has handled this adversity. Jonathan can get through this with your help. Thank you for reading this.
