Cheryl's Journey

August 9, 2018, was the day that changed Cheryl's life forever. Walking into the doctor's office, she was given the devastating news with her husband, dad & two of her sisters by her side. Cheryl was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (ACL). A lot of information was given to a room of shocked & unbelieving faces as this couldn't be happening to this sweet & shy woman who is loved by many. The doctor was fantastic & patiently answered all of our many questions, including whether there were other options, there just had to be. There were none other than chemo to start immediately in hopes of saving her life. Thankfully, there was a bed available the following day to start treatment.
The next day we tried to fit some fun into a few hours before Cheryl had to be admitted, not being able to leave her floor, let alone the hospital for four weeks straight. Team Cheryl pedicures done & a dramatic reveal haircut left Cheryl looking beautiful for the tough journey ahead.
Cheryl is only 25 years old. She married her best friend & soulmate, Vinny just a year ago. She is a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a friend and so much more to so many people. She had a long wonderful life ahead of her which is worth fighting for. This diagnosis has been devastating to everyone who knows her, most of all her family who crazily does everything together!
We are fundraising to help Cheryl and Vinny with finances while she fights for her life. It's going to be a long road ahead & we want to help with fuel costs, meals, personal bills & anything they may need to aid them through this difficult time. Cheryl suffers from anxiety & does not want to be alone so Vinny will be staying through the night by her side with both their families looking after things, scheduling visits & relief to help keep her calm. This is challenging at the same time as she absolutely cannot contract any illness as she will not have an immune system to fight it.
