Cataract surgery

Donation protected

Hello kind friends and strangers!

I just went to the eye doctor. I have had a cataract for almost 20 years in my left eye. Two years ago it got bad enough I failed the driving eye  exam. I received a waiver but chose to get glasses anyway.

I have not found any that fit properly. I can’t wear them long enough to combat the initial seasickness, the slide anytime I sweat (hello summer in the South!) which fogs up the lenses especially when wearing a mask.

i have tried multiple glasses but even if they were perfect, it would still not prevent the inevitable worsening of my cataract. Surgery now is much safer than as an older person. This affects my driving, reading, and other basic daily functions.

One eye cataract surgery is approximately $3500. I’m unemployed from COVID and definitely don’t have insurance and don’t qualify for Medicaid. The free clinic does not do eye health.

i have applied for assistance but I am no idea if I will be eligible.

thanks and remember, Black Lives Matter, Be Gay and Do Crime, wash your hands, wear your mask, be kind.
