UANA DANS was created in 2018 with the mission of provoking meaningful conversation and cultural exchange through our wonderfully human art form--dance. It is my deep seated belief that dance has the unparalleled ability to heal through empathy. Through performance, all parties-- the dancers, the audience, and the community can find healing. Dance helps revitalize us toward embracing our authentic selves.
Our young company has already received international recognition and has toured to Germany, Denmark, Spain, Greece! It has been a whirlwind of new experiences and learning on the job, but we are thrilled to grow our budding company. This includes a development period while we officially move our home base to the beautiful city of good neighbors: Buffalo, NY!
In Buffalo, the company will work to create new dance pieces to perform at home and abroad in addition to offering movement-based classes to the community. We wish to act as cultural ambassadors for the arts in America, through international performances, while simultaneously bringing new life to the movement culture in our hometown. UANA DANS seeks to offer opportunities for healing and renewal in audiences and participants alike. Our dancers share their art, but our students gain the opportunity to heal their bodies and spirit.
Uana Dans believes that dance is about communication, healing, and sharing. Through dance, we communicate a story, a feeling, or an experience. Through the feedback we receive from our body, we learn from ourselves.
Right now, we need your support. We’re in the middle of creating a piece that will be performed in three different countries this winter and spring. Because our dancers are joining us from around the world, travel costs are beyond our budget. We want to represent the vibrancy that is the Buffalo creative community, in London, Germany, and Toronto. A piece about coming home, this work shares much about our planting roots in Western New York. And we need your help to tell this story. Can you contribute?
