Hi, this is Jayne. I'm a hedgehog rehabber at Milford Hedgehogs. Last year we helped 773 hedgehogs and whilst we had a slow start to the year we are now extremely busy and it's one in one out at the moment, so we are getting through loads of meds.

We are currently spending £200 - £300 a month on dronspot alone as fluke is rife! we estimate that vets bills and meds alone cost in the region of £500 - £600 a month at present as many come in with multiple parasites so need a wide range of medication and that's before the dreaded autumn juvenile season starts.

The drought this summer has hit Hedgehogs hard, and the early onset of autumn will mean that we expect autumn winter to be even harder than usual due to the lack of natural food sources.
