Food Justice Project - Our COVID19 response

The Anne Matthews Trust is an organisation that aims to to benefit individuals, community based groups and organisations that are seeking to find ways to work together to combat the sources and effects of inequality, poverty, discrimination and oppression. We are especially committed to working with young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, and supporting them to develop networks, access opportunities, and equip them with new skills and knowledge to tackle the injustices they face.

We are based at Braich Goch Inn and Bunkhouse, a 450 year old building in the village of Corris, on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park near Machynlleth, West Wales.  We have been developing Braich Goch into a community hub where  we can generate community-focused solutions, people from the local community and the refugee and migrant groups we bring into Braich Goch from towns and cities across Wales and the rest of the UK, can meet, share cultures, build relationships,  foster understanding between communities.
 

We need your help to maintain  this voluntarily initiative!

The Braich Goch Food Justice project came about in May 2020 as a response to the Covid19 situation. Working with a local chef and cook, we source our vegetables from local growers (as well as foods growing in our garden).

We roll out on average 100 weekly hot nutritious meals for our local community on a free/donation basis. Over the months more than 1000 people continue to benefit from this initiative, we have supported furloughed families, those shielding and isolating and have generally provided a delicious takeaway box with a touch of love during this strange and difficult year. Our project is run by dedicated volunteers, and with another possible lockdown looming we would like to continue this project until the end of the year. Please help us raise money to cover our cooks time and source our ingredients, all we need is £2500!!
