My Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Many of you do not know but last September (2017) I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It was a total shock. But I knew that I had to do what I had to do to beat this and be there for my son. I just never knew how much it would entail and how much it would actually cost. I thought when you had insurance everything is covered. Unfortunately that is not the case with Cancer. Certain things are covered, certain things are only partially covered. And since I have family insurance with my son, my deductible is a little high even though I have the best insurance through my company. I also only thought I was going to need 1 surgery and ended up having 2.
I have gone through 8 rounds of chemotherapy, 2 surgeries and I will be going through 36 rounds of radiation. In between all that were many costly tests and doctor appointments that co-pays had to be paid to. So on top of feeling the effects of all the treatment, you have bill collectors calling and wanting money. I have been paying a little to each bill but feel like I might be paying this off forever.
I thought of Go Fund Me many times but I am not the one to ask for help. I usually try and do everything myself. But as the bills keep piling up, I kept thinking it might be a good idea. I mean every little bit can help. And I know that if someone needed my help, I would donate even if it was a small amount that I could afford.
I am fortunate that my parents have let me and my son come live with them so that I didn't have to worry about rent and I am forever grateful. Its very hard when you have to give up your normal life and take on 2 new people in your house - everything changes... But even with living at home, the amount of money I owe keeps increasing due to the amount of time I have to take off for appointments and treatments and when I am not feeling well.
If I am able to reach my goal, I will be able to pay off the Chemotherapy and Surgery and Radiation which will help so much. I will be able to get a nice place for me and my son to live and start new. I wont feel like I am drowning and be able to go out and have some fun with my son and not feel like I cant afford it because life is too short not to.
Even if it is $5 it would help me tremendously. I would be forever grateful to all of you.
If you have any questions, you can private message me on facebook. I would be happy to answer any.
Thank you.
