Send Peggy to the Transplant Games

I am raising money to give me my chance to participate in the National Transplant Games in the spring of 2016. Here is my story:
In April of 2012, I caught a virus and never got better. Figuring it was springtime allergies, I tried to make an appointment with my physician who was on "administrative leave". By June, friends were beginning to comment on my breathing problems, and after my dental hygienist said "you need to go to emergency .... shall I clean your teeth first, or do you want to go now?" I finally listened. I drove myself 44 miles to get to the hospital closest to my home.
Who would have guessed that a woman who took care of her health all her life now had a failing heart. By September, 2013, I was tested every which way and was approved for transplant. The call came eight weeks later. In November of 2013, I was given the chance of my lifetime with a heart transplant at Stanford Hospital.
I was introduced to the Transplant Games by my dear friend, Robin. Her daughter, Anna has Cystic Fibrosis and is a five year double lung transplant survivor. Anna is such an inspiration. Her life is so full of health and joy. She has participated in Transplant Games in the US and internationally. Because of their encouragement, and at the age of 67, I am planning to participate in my first Games in Cleveland next June. I will be swimming and playing bocce. I have never competed in a sporting event in my life so have stepped out of my old comfort zone for this one and am so excited to do this and to spread the powerful importance of organ donations. I do not know my donor, but will be forever connected to this person and his/her family. I bless them every day. I am competing to honor my donor and to honor my friend Ellie Stone, who died last summer and was an organ donor.
