Hi Wayne's Community,
I am a way-back friend of Wayne's from under-grad University of Houston days where we met in the Quad dormitory. I started this campaign for Wayne, who has been hit hard by Hurricane Harvey.
Wayne's entire warehouse, providing shelter to many folks and pets, has been flooded. Water reached 36 inches high in his place. As of Tues, 08/29, the waters have receeded and as soon as stores open and roads are clear our boy will be demolishing the debris and purchasing new building materials. Here's a real way Wayne's friends can help from anywhere we are.
Immediate Needs: Wayne needs cash funds to rent a dumpster, get fans and cleaning supplies and clean out the mess before mold and mildew sets in. Some furniture needs to be replaced.
All the refrigerators, washers and dryers and other appliances in his own and his rental units need to be replaced. Sheetrock needs to be cut and replaced four ft above the floor. All flooring and base needs to be replaced, new wall insulation, new paint, and more. Wayne's rental units are a huge part of his livelihood and he depends on this income.
Flood insurance is not available in this area of Houston. Wayne has applied for a FEMA grant but it could be a very long time - months- before money arrives.
Cost: Raw costs are estimated upwards of $10,000 for equipment and materials. Wayne and local friends will provide most of the labor needed as they are able. Wayne can build or repair anything and has the tools.
Timing: Funds are needed urgently to mobilize, normalize and strategize so please give what you can to Wayne and help him out in this terrible time. It will mean so much to our positive, determined and hard-working friend.
Fund Distribution: All $$$ raised, less processing fees, will go directly to Wayne's account.
