For the past few months, Kara has been experiencing serious headaches and pain in her jaw area. Recently, an MRI confirmed that she needs two extremely expensive surgeries with about 12-18 months of orthodontic work between them.
The first surgery will entail correcting her displaced disks in her jaw joints and removing multiple teeth. At this time Kara's jaw joints are bone on bone until her disks can be pinned back into place. Kara will start orthodontics soon after the first surgery. The second surgery will be to realign her jaws and open her partially blocked airway.
Unfortunately, they cannot be sure they will receive any help from their insurance to pay for the surgeries or orthodontic work. These procedures involve Kara's Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ). TMJ surgeries are excluded on 99% of all insurance policies.
The payment must be made before the surgeries take place. Kara has her first surgery at the end this month (September 2017) and will have a second surgery in 12 months.
Break-Down of Cost:
-1st surgery and anesthesia will be close to $24,000
-2nd surgery will be close to $40,000
-Orthodontics will be between $7,000-$8,000
