My name is Kim, and my husband Michael and I retired to Nicaragua 14 months ago. Just a few months after completing our new home, Michael was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. We prepared for retirement, including healthcare, but we never expected a battle of this magnitude.
We had enough savings to cover building our house, living comfortably, and even healthcare for normal circumstances. We subscribed to a health plan here for a discount, but we did not foresee such an aggressive form of cancer. Now we’ve used up our savings, and we are facing another six months of treatment that could get Michael into remission. We need around $60,000 to continue, but we only have a quarter of that left.
We are reaching out to you, our friends, family, and kind strangers, to help us fund these crucial six months of treatment. We came prepared for retirement but not for this fight. Any contribution, big or small, will help us give Michael the chance to get into remission and have more years together. We appreciate your love, support, and generosity more than words can express.
