Dollars for Daisy

On 08 November 2020, owner of Kensington Prairie Farm, Catherine Simpson, received a call from the BCSPCA on behalf of a 15 year old Llama named Daisy. Daisy was diagnosed with a tooth abscess in March 2020 which went untreated.

The very next day, we went to get Daisy from a local farm, where the conditions were deplorable. Daisy lived in a field with metre-high, dead grass and an active burn pile. Once we finally caught her, we realized how skinny and terrified she was. We transported Daisy home and made an appointment with the a vet for the very next day.

When the vet came, he informed us that, Daisy having  "just an abscess", was very unlikely, as the entire mass feels like bone and it was likely that she would need serious surgery at the clinic. Upon completing an X-Ray, we discovered that the infection in her tooth has caused not only an abscess, but a break in the bone structure in her face.

The pressure and pain that Daisy must be feeling is heart-wrenching. We are currently giving her antibiotics 2x per day to try and help to minimize the infection in her body. We are also giving her inflammatory and pain medicine.

Daisy's road to recovery is going to be a long one, but we are dedicated to helping her: no animal should be in a state of such despair as a result of neglect, but we need your help!

Until this point, proceeds from Kensington Prairie Farm admission and tour went to a children's charity in Peru called Quechua Benefit but we are changing this. As we have become such an active rescue support system in the lower mainland, we are now dedicating a portion of our general admission and tour proceeds to our rescue animals.

We have just sent a donation of $4000 USD to the Quehchuan people of Peru to help with aid against Corona-19, and we were able to do this solely because of our loyal visitors and their generosity.  Because of you, we have been able to save lives!

Now, let's save Daisy's.

We do not know yet the total cost of surgery, as they will not know until they get Daisy on the operating table; however, If you are able to help us in any way to help Daisy, we would be forever grateful.

This campaign has been established to ask our local community to pull together to support Daisy's surgery -- any donation to help and 100% of the proceeds will go to the cost of Daisy's recovery.

If you are unable to donate, please share our story. No animal deserves to be neglected like Daisy -- let's change the way we see livestock animals.
