Addy's Medical Fund

On October 17, 2017, every parent's worst nightmare came true for our family. 5-year-old Addicyn was diagnosed with an optic glioma. A tumor formed along her optic nerve causing her to lose most of her vision in her affected eye. If not treated, it can cause her to completely lose her vision in both eyes. The tumor is in a location that does not allow for surgery to remove it. If it reaches the chiasma, it can potentially cause more complex issues, illnesses, and affect the body’s endocrine system. Addy's only option is chemotherapy. And chemo is scheduled to last at least 12 months.

Addy is currently undergoing chemotherapy with two different types of medication - vincristine and carboplatin. She goes every Friday for a lengthy treatment of seven hours or more. She had a port put in during the middle of December and that is how they're currently delivering her medication. As a result, Addy suffers from severe stomach cramping, fatigue, and nausea. For a five-year-old, this is the opposite of fun.

Along with chemo, Addy is currently enduring regular visits to the ophthalmologist and getting updated MRIs every few months. Addy has good days and some bad days. Most of them filled with appetite loss and fatigue. All she really wants to do is return to being a normal kid.

Donations are needed ASAP and will go towards all of Addy's current and future medical expenses. Costs incurred by her family include her numerous doctor's visits, extensive chemo treatments, medicine and her port surgery which was paid for out of pocket.

These donations will greatly help Addy's family with their day to day living expenses on top of her ongoing medical expenses. Her family sets aside every penny they can to make sure she attends each doctor visit and lengthy chemo treatment. Addy and her family currently live in the state of Texas where FMLA does not allow for paid time off due to a child illness. Her family manages the situation by working opposing schedules. With no family support close by, this is the only option available to them so that one of her family members can be with her at all times.

As you can see, Addy is unfazed by her current predicament. But that doesn't change the fact that her and her family struggle daily both financially and emotionally.  She's a Supergirl, one who's so full of life and spunk. Even she refuses to let something as bad as cancer stand in her way.
