This is an emergency.
The political establishment has failed to protect us. We face a mass extinction of species on Earth; a real risk of devastating environmental collapse. The planet could lose its ability to support human life. There is little time left: we must rebel to protect the livelihood of citizens and our natural world, or risk losing everything we cherish.
We can stop devastating climate change.
Extinction Rebellion was launched at the end of October 2018 and has quickly spread around the world. We are united by a shared desire to challenge governments to act urgently to prevent ecological breakdown. The movement has three demands and is guided by these principles.
2. Tell the Truth
Government must tell the truth by declaring a climate and ecological emergency, working with other institutions to communicate the urgency for change.
2. Act Now
Government must act now to halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025.
3. Beyond Politics
Government must create and be led by the decisions of Citizens’ Assembly on climate and ecological justice.
We rebelled across five UK cities.
In mid-July, rebels from across the country occupied five cities to highlight the inactivity of our leaders since their declaration of the climate emergency. Our fight for change is ongoing.
October Rebellion
Starting on October 7th, Extinction Rebellion groups across the world will gather in key cities to rebel.
It’s going to be huge.
Time is running out. Climate and ecological breakdown has already begun. Leading scientists and public figures (including the UN Secretary-General) have estimated we have as little as 18 months to turn it around.
There will be dozens of us from St Albans XR in London. You could be with us.
The rebellion continues!
The situation remains urgent. We are making a big difference: creating the space for government to take the bold action we need to turn this ship around.

- £100 helps pay for a meeting room to welcome all the new rebels and plan the next steps for survival
