Help Make Megan an Ironwoman x2!!

Donation protected
Aloha,

Thank you for taking the time to come to this page and join us in supporting Megan Gibbons on her quest for a second Ironman completion! As you may know, Megan won her age group during the Lake Placid Ironman on July 22, 2018 . Overcoming incredible odds, Megan soared through the race with flying colors, taking on each leg in stride!

For those that may not fully understand the complexity and challenge of this competition, it consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a full marathon (26.22-mile run), raced in that order and without a break! No easy feat to say the least, but Megan’s months of dedication and training surely paid off. Megan completed the competition in 11 hours, 43 minutes and 5 seconds, and captured the title in the F25-29-year-old division. She placed 237th overall and 37th among female participants. This win qualified her for the Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii on October 13, 2018 (just two short months away). And that’s why we are here raising money today!

Megan has always been an incredible athlete, pushing herself in ways that most could never even imagine possible (shout out to all of those other couch potatoes out there). Megan’s unparalleled athleticism makes her the outstanding athlete she is today and has been for the past 28 years, but it is her determination, drive, and commitment that set her apart from any competition. These characteristics are true of Megan both in the sports/athletics world, but as well as in the way she conducts herself as a friend, daughter, sister, classmate, and team member outside of any race.

Megan is loyal, committed, and a hard worker in anything and everything she does. Whilst Megan trained and prepared for this grueling competition and the next to come, she juggles going back to graduate school working towards her DPT at Misericordia University, working, and committing to engagements with her family and friends all over the country (including 7 weddings in the summer of 2018 where she was a MOH in at least one and bridesmaid in many others). How she does it we will never know! Megan always puts everyone else’s interests and happiness above her own and does anything to help and be there for those she cares about. But now it’s our turn to help Megan!

Megan would never ask for this but we want to raise money to fund her trip to Hawaii for the Ironman World Championship. In order to do so we are looking to raise $4,000 by October 1, 2018 to support her trip. That money would go to the following:

· Airfare to and from Hawaii (including bike shipment): $1400

· Lodging when there for the competition: $1600

· Transportation when in Hawaii: $550

· Food, Equipment, etc. whilst at the competition: $450

Any and all additional money raised will be donated to a charity near and dear to Megan and the Gibbons Family, the American Cancer Society. Megan’s mother, Kelly Gibbons passed away of cancer in 2013. The ACS is a charity Megan has contributed to and supported through other races and competitions over the years in her mother's name and legacy. Kelly would be so proud of Megan for her accomplishments and the lovely, amazing young woman she is today. We know Kelly is with Megan during every race and challenge, so let’s help get them both to Hawaii for another big win!

"Swim 2.4 miles! Bike 112 miles! Run 26.2 miles! Brag for the rest of your life!"

Thank you so very much on behalf of Megan’s Proud Friends & Family.
Mahalo!
