Time to Fight

Spende geschützt
We are the friends and neighbors of Brian Zimmerman, a veteran of the Gulf War and victim of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD). Our group is called Time to Fight, and we need your support in helping Brian with a new challenge in his battle with PTSD.

We are blessed to live in one of America’s beautiful quiet rural areas. The whisper of the breeze through the trees, the call of a wild turkey, the sight of a soaring bald eagle, and the call of the loons, are a few of our daily joys. Brian’s family has made this area their home for generations, but when our country needed him most, like others, Brian left his peaceful, quiet home to serve in the Gulf War and other places. He served in the First Infantry 216th Rangers in Operation Desert Storm, and the 7th Calvary.

When his service was over he came back to his safe place, his sanctuary, a changed man. The physical and emotional effects of the Silent Battle, PTSD, have raged within him for years. The one absolute he could always count on was the nature that surrounded him. The familiarity of each path he walked through in the woods comforted him. The smells of the new beginnings in the spring, the quiet growth throughout the summer, the sound of the leaves under foot in the fall, and even the cold silence of winter held him close. It sustained him. It gave him strength.

THAT IS ALL ABOUT TO CHANGE.

The Norseman Motorcycle Club Inc. recently purchased a 180-acre parcel adjacent to Brian’s home for the purpose of building an “Off Highway Recreational Facility.” The proposal calls for over six miles of logging trails and trails they cut themselves to be utilized for “enduro” style off-road racing and training. With this, Brian and his neighbors will have no quiet spring, summer, or fall, without the endless whine and roar of motorcycles. This could happen very soon. Brian will have lost the possibility for peace and his ability to heel in the quiet natural solitude that comforts him today.

For over a year Brian and our group have been attempting to convince Aitkin County, Minnesota that allowing such a facility is not appropriate for this location. It would be detrimental to the quality of life for all area residents, none more so than Brian. The impact on his life, his Silent Battle, can’t be measured.
We cannot fathom the depth of Brian’s inner battles. We have, however, seen how the current situation, has affected Brian. We assure you it is not good. It routinely triggers his PTSD in ways we hope none of us ever have to experience. Some of you have served and can understand these battles on a personal level, and from deep down inside we THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!

We ask each of you to visit the below links. Watch the videos. Decide for yourself if you really believe that the county is looking out for Brian’s best interest. The decision he made to fight in a war, for each and every one of us, has forever changed him. We need to have his back just like he had ours. He deserves no less.

After hiring lawyers, sound experts, and getting word out to the community our small group is reaching the end of its ability to fund this battle without your assistance. We’ll top the $20,000 mark soon. If the County approves the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for this business our only avenue will be to pursue law suits that cost a great deal more than our small rural group can afford.

We understand from our attorneys those cost to be $50,000.00 to $75,000.00, or more. Will you please help us help Brian?

Please contribute what you can and if you can’t contribute, we ask that you share Brian’s story!

All donations, legal assistance, and influential assistance would be greatly appreciated. Any money we receive in excess of what is needed to win the fight will be donated to www.limacompanymemorial.org.
