Help Malcolm get a Track Wheelchair

Donation protected
Let me introduce myself. My name is Malcolm Whyte, I am a 52 year old outdoorsman, husband, and father.  I have been in a wheelchair for 30 years.  In my early twenties I was in a logging accident where a tree fell on me and left me a paraplegic.  However, being in a wheelchair has not stopped me from doing the things I want to do and love.

I have been an avid hunter since I was a teenager and have not let my wheelchair stop me from enjoying my hobby.  One of the things I love about hunting is being in the woods in the morning and having the opportunity to listen to the woods wake up around me.  The meat I am able to provide my family with is also a reason I enjoy hunting. I primarily like to hunt whitetail deer and sika deer, but also enjoy hunting wild turkeys.

Hunting aside, I pride myself on being an active person with a bit of a competitive side.  For 17 years I played wheelchair basketball, traveling around the US.  For the last 18 years I have done 30 plus marathons competing in the hand-cycling division.  On six occasions I rode my hand-cycle in the 500 mile Cycle North Carolina (NC) Mountains to Coast Ride.  For leisure, I enjoy kayaking and camping with my family and friends.

I work on a construction job everyday as I have for the last 25 years as a heavy equipment operator (mini excavator) and foremen.  As you can see I do not let my disability stop me from doing the things I want to do.  I believe that we all can do anything we set our minds to, but it’s the thing between the ears that we let stop us.  Due to a recent shoulder injury, it is more difficult for me to do the things I enjoy, so I need your help.  I am trying to purchase a track wheelchair so I’m able to get into the woods to continue hunting, camping, and kayaking.

Thank you for your time in reading this campaign. I am grateful for all your support.  If you would please share my story I'd appreciate it.

Thank You and God Bless You
