DO YOU LIKE A CHALLENGE? Here we are in June 2017. My name is Bob Fretz. I have a friend. Her name is Jo Ann MacLeod. She has cancer. She recently underwent a double mastectomy to get rid of it but they found some more in her body. She is now undergoing chemo treatments. She has lost all her hair. As if that wasn’t enough, her husband is scheduled for bypass surgery next month. Finances will be tight. There will be numerous expenses in dealing with this. Day to day needs, lost wages as well as the cost of trips to the Hamilton hospital for treatment, gas, parking, etc. It was 10 years ago that a generous donation was made to my family that resulted in a liver transplant. When you here of someone in need you may say “I wish there was something I could do”.
They live on Bowen Rd. in Stevensville. I lived on Bowen rd. in Stevensville in my younger years. Jo Ann and I are Christians. Jo Ann and I like to volunteer at a camp our church has for kids each summer. So we have a few things in common. So what would I do for my friend? To raise awareness and funds in our community, I have set up a Go Fund Me page called “Love is in the Hair”. I am challenging anyone who reads this to donate to this cause. If the Go Fund Me page raises over $5,000.00 by next Sunday June 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. I will have Whitney Arbic shave my head bald outside in front of our church (Stevensville United Brethren, 2536 Stevensville Rd, Stevensville) If the total reaches $10,000.00 the beard goes too. (I have not shaved my beard since 1977. My wife has never seen me clean shaven.) Whitney is a hair stylist who works out of Love Is in the Hair, Hairdressers & Beauty Salons, 3704 E. Main St. There will be a BBQ at the church at noon where folks can stop by to make a donation should they prefer not to donate online, to me or at the Salon. There will be a donation box at “Love is in The Hair”. So, tell your friends and neighbours, share it on Facebook, spread the word, I will. Let’s come together as a community and help this family out.
