Annual PNAC Spartan Race

Hi, my name is Jonathan and I am a Bonner Leader at High Point University. I volunteer at an after-school program called "PNAC" in High Point, NC along with my fellow Bonner Leaders, Taylor Frederick, Evan Campbell, Kayla Mitchell, and Shyquel Allison . At PNAC we try to incoporate four main themes in our curriculum. The four being: Physical Activity, Nutrition, Academics and Character.
Children now-a-days are more inclined to sit around and watch TV inside. At PNAC we encourage the students that exercise is healthy and we need it to maintain in good health. We do different activities such as games that involve the children to get active and move around. We also try to do special events such as this Spartan Sprint coming up in Charlotte. We believe that this event will also allow the children to work on character aspects such as leadership and determination as well as giving a fun alternative to exercising. For the upcoming weeks we plan to "Train" the children so that when they complete the race and are handed their medal, they feel accomplished for earning it rather than being handed a medal. Hopefully this will cause a spark in their mind that with hard work they will be rewarded and they will continue to work hard.
Last year the children participated in the Spartan Race and loved it so much they wish to return! We are currently trying to develop a method for next year where the children will raise the money for the funds, but until then, the children need YOUR help!
All donors will receive a thank you card illustrated by one the students who attend PNAC. If you would like a thank you card please contact me using the "contact organizer" selection and send me your contact information.
We have 50 students in the program and registration is about $25 per child. Any donations will help and will be greatly appreciated.
