Help Hannah and Calvin get married!

Donation protected
Hello, My name is Simon and Calvin and Hannah are dear friends of mine. It is difficult to put into words how much I want their wedding to go ahead ; the wedding is booked but at present is not economically viable.

But, with your help, even if 5000 people gave a 1 pound donation, their dream would be achieved. Rather than me ramble on, this next bit is from Hannah....

'In 1997 when I was 5 years old I was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukaemia). I was given chemotherapy which was unsuccessful so I went on to need a BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant) and TBI (Total Body Radiation). I had an unrelated donor. I suffered all the effects of the treatment at the time including losing my hair and severe vomiting. I got an acute infection whilst I was in isolation for my BMT and almost died.

Almost 20 years later I am what you call a Childhood Cancer Survivor. However, all this treatment has come at a cost to me. Not many people realise the long term late effects of having these cancer treatments. My 20s have been a tough time.

I have always wanted to have children but two years ago I was told I needed to have a hysterectomy due to having cancer as a child. No words can describe the pain that I felt about this. I have cried an ocean. But just when you manage to pick yourself up I started feeling unwell again and had a parathyroid removed. During this surgery they removed half my thyroid to biopsy. I have just found out that the remaining is cancerous. I need another surgery and radiation treatment. It has had a huge knock on effect as I am currently planning my wedding. Financially it will be difficult. All I wanted was to be happy planning and getting on with my life preparing for my big day with my Calvin in 2023.

The thing is with surviving cancer as a child, you never escape it. As well as the above I have had cataracts removed, an ongoing heart condition and joint problems which will likely result in early knee replacement surgery. I will always run the risk of secondary cancers like this one.'

So there we go, if you can take the time to give one pound ( or just over to cover charges) or even more then Hannah and Calvin will have their wedding. If the target is not achieved the wedding will not happen as Hannah is currently preparing to be off work. I will forever be indebted to you if you make a donation.

Thanks for your time,

Simon.
