Fight for Thor

Donation protected
The last 48 hours have been a whirlwind. On our walk yesterday, Thor had an allergic reaction that put him in an anaphylactic shock. It was out of nowhere but we reacted quickly and made it to the Animal Vet Hospital in time. While he was on the table getting checked,  all of his anxiety and stress caused him to tear the left side of his atrium, allowing fluid to enter the rupture. He's always had a heart murmur that we've monitored since birth but the cardiogram during the exam showed an increase in the disease.

Last night and as of early this morning, he's been in the ICU. The doctors have been tapping his heart every 6-8 hours to release the fluid. He's been responding well but before every tapping procedure, they've told us that we've needed to make a decision on Thor's future.  Hearing this isn't easy. Making a decision is even harder but we want to give Thor the chance to fight. We decided we are giving him the chance to fight. And he's changed.

Right now his shock symptoms are gone. His blood pressure and breathing are back to where it should be. They haven't had to tap his heart to release fluid since 8 am. He's been given lots of valium to make sure he doesn't become too stressed while resting in his crate, and he is getting his vitamins, additional fluids,  heart medications, and everything else he needs for an optimistic recovery.

As doctors have explained, this process is very dynamic. We don't know what's going to happen and within hours things have changed. We are hoping for the best and that he makes it throughout the night without another heart tap, but we were told to expect that he may need a blood transfusion because his platelets could drop.

Saxon and I have decided that we are going to give our little man the chance to fight for his life. He's showing us that he wants too and that he isn't going to give up but it's not just us, we need your help. We've paid $4,500 in medical bills so far and he could stay in the intensive care unit until Saturday or Sunday (if all goes according to plan).

We want to bring Thor home. Help us do it. Out of all days to be thankful, we are most thankful today to see this change in Thor's health. We are thankful for those taking the time to read this post, sharing this with friends/family, and for anyone helping to contribute to Thor's care.

If you know me, Thor is my heart and soul and everything I have inside of me.  He's touched so many hearts, so please help touch his. Thank you so much to family and friends who have been supporting us on this.
