Medical Expenses for Breast Cancer

Alyssa Wilbur is probably one of the kindest, most hardworking person you'll ever meet. Despite the many struggles and hardships she has been through, she always manages to stay positive and emits this energy to whom ever she meets. Here is her story and why a few of us wanted to start a Go Fund Me campaign for her, and her mother who has just recently been diagnosed with cancer for the second time.
Alyssa is currently finishing her masters at Mcgill in Urban Geography. She works part time as a T.A. and as a Georgraphic Information Systems Analyst for the Town of Montreal West . She loves to travel, she loves her friends, playing music and cuddling with her dog Dash. This past summer she got married to her fiancé Max and this winter they will be travelling to Indonesia (where Alyssa is from) to visit and care for her mom.
Alyssa's mother, Henny, has a long career in the humanatarian sector. Devoting her time to helping others and, working for various organizations such as UNICEF, The Canadian Co-operative Association, The Canadian International Development Agency and Green Com. In her 30s Henny got diagnosed for the first time with pancreatic cancer and beat it. Along with this she has struggled with diabetes and heart problems and in 2012 she had to undergo open heart surgery. Unfortunetly as Indonesia has no public health insurance Henny was forced to use all of her savings to pay for these procedures and the medical fees it ensued. To help support her mother Alyssa has been sending monthly remitences. Alyssa's father passed away in 2008 and Henny and Alyssa have been supporting eachother since then. On top of this Alyssa has her own medical expenses which she has to pay the majority for out of pocket. She suffers from an auto immune disorder as well as a kidney disease but has been living in Montreal on a study visa and therefore has not been able benefit from full coverage.
Henny had a masectomy on November 24 in Indonesia and will now be undergoing both radiation and chemo to try and fight the cancer that has spread to her lymphnodes. The surgery itself along with the medical fees will be costing Alyssa and her mother upwards of 8000 CAD. However this does not include the cost of the treatments (radiation and chemo) which is yet to be determined. But Alyssa and her mother are hopeful that Henny will beat it and have taken out several loans to pay it off.
Alyssa has such a big heart and gives so much. It really pains us to see such an amazing person have to go through this. Any little bit helps!
