Xmas Miracle 4 Jingle Bell & Manno

St. Sophia's is hoping for a Holiday Miracle for two sweet kittens that recently came into our care.   Both were transferred from Chicago Animal Control knowing that they were in rough shape.   While funds from pledges were received and immediately put to use for these kittens, their medical conditions turned out to be much more extensive than previously anticipated -- and now we are in need of medical funds to get the Manno and Jingle Bell the intensive care needed to survive.

MANNO
Cute Little Manno (originally named Manny at CACC, with ID #A175752), is all purrs and cuddles even though we know he's in pain.  Arriving at CACC December 5th, he had wounds on his back legs and a matted and swollen bottom. 

CACC did what they could to bandage his back legs after cleaning and treating, but now that Manno is in our care and has been seen by a full-service vet, it's been discovered that he has an inverted, swollen & ulcerated prepuce -- meaning that due to some type of trauma, he is peeing into a pocket in his abdomen -- and of course this is incredibly painful! 

This little boy is going to need to undergo emergency Perineal Urethostomy surgery (PU) and lots of prayers and good vibes for a safe and effective surgery and uneventful recovery.


JINGLE BELL

Jingle Bell, (we kept her name, ID # A175811 at CACC) entered animal control seemingly normal.  They had plans to put her on the adoption floor, but when they opened her up for spay surgery, discovered that she had a severe diaphragmatic hernia. 

This is not a typical umbilical hernia (where the intestines push through the abdominal muscle), but a much more severe hernia, where the intestines and all lower abdominal organs push up through a hole in the diaphram, putting pressure on the lungs and heart in the chest cavity.  Her surgery was extensive and her recovery was happily pretty quick. 

However, just as fast as she recovered, our little girl has now crashed.  She is uncomfortable, sitting balled up, and she is being hospitalized for acute dehydration and jaundice.  The pressure of the surgery has caused her liver and kidneys to start to fail, and we need to take quick action to get her back to where she needs to be.
