I went to my first lacrosse practice for Doc's NYC in 4th grade after a trip to Dick's Sporting Goods, and enjoyed my last lacrosse practice a few months ago before packing my bags to leave college during the coronavirus. It was a wild and magical ride - from Randall's Island to Harvard, with stops in Long Island, Fieldston, and Israel along the way. Over the years, lacrosse introduced me to many friends and role models. It offered me life lessons and healthy challenges. Lacrosse was my companion growing up. Through good times and bad, I used to throw on my crusty Brine gloves, pop in my headphones, and walk over to the wall on 108th Street and Amsterdam to work on my left hand and dream a few college lax dreams...
CityLax is putting together this wonderful event to help young people in New York City enjoy the sport that I love, along with all of the benefits and opportunities that come with it. On September 12th, a group of graduating college seniors will play one last game in order to raise funds for the next generation of lacrosse players.
By donating, you will help underserved New York City public school students access the benefits, opportunities, and joys of playing lacrosse. Your support is only more important in the wake of the coronavirus, as the city faces budgetary constraints that will likely impact school sports. Lacrosse can be life changing for young people in this city. The positive impact of the sport touches crucial areas of their lives, including academic performance and engagement in school. Your donation can make a lifetime of difference to a New York City kid in need of a dream!
$100 dollars can put a stick in the hands of an aspiring player. $300 can pay for balls for an entire team. $500 can supply the nets. But every donation makes a real and tangible difference.
