Xixu's Recovery Fund

Hi friends and family,

On the night of February 18th, Xixu was on his way to his friend’s house when he slipped on the icy sidewalk.

With a fractured tibia and fibula, he was taken in an ambulance to the WoodHall Hospital (Brooklyn), and then transferred to Bellevue Hospital (Manhattan) where he received an emergency leg surgery right after the accident. 

Xixu is now back at home and has a six month recovery ahead of him. Unfortunately, Xixu does not have health insurance to cover the costs of rehabilitation.

This will not be easy, having to remain in bed for the first month, and continue to use crutches for the following 2 months. In addition, to the physical therapy and kinesiology sessions he will have to undertake for his leg recovery over the coming months.

He is currently in contact with the Financial Assistance office at the Bellevue Hospital to receive help and insure his bill is covered. On top of this, he also needs your help with basic living expenses, rent, and getting to the rehabilitation center -as he does not have a car and cannot rely on public transport at this time.

After surviving two terrible weeks of COVID, Xixu was ready to get back to life. Given the unexpected turns of life this will not be possible for the next few months.

Sharing, posting, and contributing with anything you can will be greatly appreciated. Hopefully, we will soon be able to have Xixu stronger than ever, so that we can enjoy his wonderful and unique company!
