Greetings Diesel Family!
The annual Dyno For Dex will be held this year on May 20, 2017 at Tulsa Raceway Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma. For the second year, we are teaming up with the NHRDA to bring the best of both worlds together for one super event.
We want YOU, to be a part of this exciting day that celebrates the life of Michael Dexter (Dex) Brown. This is our annual event that raises money to help any Diesel Family member that may be in financial need for various reasons including unexpected medical expenses, natural disasters, or other unforeseen circumstances.
This is our largest fundraiser of the year and we’re looking to build up the fund so that we can help more of our Diesel Family members when they need it most.
We are happy to announce that we are now an Internal Revenue Service recognized 501c3 non-profit organization. This means your donation is 100% tax-deductible.
This is a major step forward in our mission to help others, just as Dex would have done if he were here today. Over the last two years, DFD has already helped numerous members of our Diesel Family by making financial contributions to help with costs incurred from medical issues, accidents, emergency situations and death.
Generous donors like you are the key to our success. Your support makes it possible for DFD to provide individuals and families with assistance at critical times in their lives. None of us ever think it can happen to us, but unfortunately it can, and it’s always at the worst possible time. Plus…it’s just a great way for us to remember our friend Dex and keep his memory alive. Helping others is what Dex was all about.

A note from Dex's Dad...Robert (aka Papa Dex):
June 2, 2012 changed my life forever. I lost my best friend, my son Dex. Dex was killed in a tragic car accident along with his buddy, Daris Schell. I had no idea the impact of what losing my son would have on my life and his friends from all over the country. The outpouring of love for my family and me has been overwhelming. I know Dex is smiling and is very proud of his friends for reaching out to us. I swear, it's as though Dex told his friends that if anything ever happened to him, they should all pitch in and take care of our family. Not many fathers have the opportunity to have the kind of relationship with their kids that Dex and I had. I am proud to say that I have “no regrets and no guilt” - I just miss him so much each and every day.
Dex was very active and well known in the “online diesel community” and the local Tulsa Street Cars Club. After the accident, we decided that we needed to give back to the Motorsport Groups that have been so supportive through our shared loss. They have been instrumental in saving my life and my sanity. My wife felt that we should set up a foundation to help injured fellow racers involved with the Diesel Community, and the Tulsa Street Cars Club. After several ideas for fundraisers, we decided on the “Dyno for Dex” event; dyno, drag racing, and show and shine. The first event in May 2013 was a huge success, thanks in part to Steve Vang of Vangs Performance in Tulsa who hosted it. We quickly ran out of room and now the event gets bigger every year. The next event is scheduled for May 20th, 2017 at Tulsa Raceway Park where we will continue raising money for the, Dex Brown Racers Relief Fund.
All money collected will be placed in a certified bank saving's account, established at RCB Bank in Pryor, Oklahoma. The account will fund anyone that is involved in the community of what we call our “Diesel Family” or those involved in the “Tulsa Street Cars Club”. I foresee us establishing a board of individuals that can determine those that need financial help, not just from racing, but ANY need that arises that may have put undue hardship on them or their families. The board will be comprised of individuals familiar with the community.
In 2016, the fund was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization. Getting the organization was expensive and a difficult process, but we are happy to say it’s complete and ready to go. Our hope is that eventually the fund can be endowed. This means we would only spend the interest earned allowing the fund to be perpetual.
Dex was a very unique individual. I know he was my son, but I didn’t have much involvement with the original Dyno for Dex idea. It was created to keep a wonderful man's name alive, forever, by his friends. I appreciate all those that have taken the lead to set this up, namely Nick Carson of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Nick was the one person who took the initiative to put this event together. The amount of effort and time he has devoted to seeing this idea get off the ground has been nothing short of amazing. Dex had no idea how much of a positive impact he made on so many young people around the country.
