The XFS is a music organization created through its founders' faith in the excitement of originality in folk music.
Fifteen years ago we had an idea. An idea that folk music didn't have to be safe. It didn't have to be clean. The XFS was formed with the intent to promote and disseminate this type of folk music, with a determined emphasis on that which is original, daring and extreme. This is not your grandfather's folk music.
The XFS defines extreme as exceeding the ordinary, usual, or expected.
After 15 years the XFS could use our help. We've had some Great bands in the past:

Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band
Full Frontal Folk

This year (and hopefully many more to come!) I have offered to help the XFS find bands that really exemplify the Xtreme Folk Music that we have grown to love. While many of these bands are interested in coming and playing for us and while many of these bands have the ability to draw a larger crowd then we have been used to in the past, the XFS just does not currently have the ability to pay for them to get to us at this time. So I am asking for your help. All of you who love the music and the people. And those of you who want your kids to love the music and the people too! Anything you can spare will help. $1, $10, $100 anything.
