Help my dad in his recovery

Donation protected
On May 17th of 2018, after weeks of complaining of abdominal pain, my dad got a CT scan that showed a mass on his lower right side. The doctors called it an accidental finding. He was Referred to a specialist at Georgetown University Hospital. The visit with the specialist was on June 4th. On this visit, the doctor told us that this mass needed to be removed to determine if it was a malignant or benign tumor. He was scheduled to undergo resection of an intra abdominal mass with possible resection of small and large bowel with reconstruction on July 13th. Two days before his surgery, the doctors asked for a complete MRI and the results showed a couple more masses near the intestine where the first mass had been found. The surgery was postponed to August 10th. The surgery was this morning. After one hour of surgery, the doctor came out and told us that it looked like neuroendocrine tumor located by the intestine. He told my family and I that the lymph glands also seemed to be compromised but it was too risky to remove everything as it would bring more complications in the future. The doctor indicated that removing the mass near the intestine and doing a treatment with an oncologist would be the best for him. My dad is scheduled to stay in Georgetown University Hospital for about 7 to 10 days. After his release he will have an 8 week recovery at home. During this time, he won’t be able to work. The treatment is going to be for the rest of his life. He will be monitored every 3 to 6 months to control another tumor from growing. The initial bill today before surgery was $1,600 dollars. This amount will only increase with this week’s hospital stay plus doctors visits and treatment. Both my parents have worked two jobs each since we moved to the states in 1999. Even though my dad has insurance, he is still obligated to pay 20% of all medical bills. For all of you who know my dad, you know he has the biggest heart. He is always trying to help others and make others around him happy. He is an amazing father, who has always be there for my brothers and I. His biggest concern at the moment is not being able to help out at home with bills. My family and I ask for any amount of support. Please consider donating and sharing this gofundme with everyone. Even a few dollars would be immensely appreciated by my family.

Thank you for helping my dad and my family in this difficult time.
