Support for Stacey

Please help support Stacey and her family as she prepares for brain surgery.  Stacey is always one of the first people to help others with anything they need.  An extremely selfless person, she is always checking in on friends and family.  She has touched thousands of kids lives in her work as a guidance counselor in Chester, PA. Stacey has dealt with more than her share of medical ups and downs and always does so with the most positive and inspiring attitude.  She is never one to ask for help. This is our opportunity to show Stacey how much she means to us and help the Rhoads family through this sudden and scary time.

In January, Stacey developed sudden and extreme jaw pain. She went to the dentist thinking she might need a root canal and was eventually diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia (TN).  This rare condition occurs when the trigeminal nerve in the brain is injured, causing extreme facial pain. In Stacey's case an MRI has shown that a blood vessel compressing the nerve has caused the damage. She is on very high doses of neurontin for the time being and there is no known cure for TN besides surgery. Luckily the leading neurosurgeon who treats patients with the disorder is located at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Stacey met with him already and he feels that she is a great candidate for the microvascular decompression surgery. She is scheduled for the procedure March 30th.

For recovery Stacey will remain in the hospital in Gainesville for a few days followed by two weeks of restricted bed rest. She won't be able to lift or drive for a month or so and it will be two months until she is fully healed from the procedure. The surgeon is predicting a complete relief of pain immediately following surgery.

As you can imagine this is a sudden unexpected financial burden for Stacey and Butch. Her medical expenses are expected to hit $10,000 with her payment due for the surgery in advance of the procedure. Please contribute whatever you can to help relieve the financial stress so that the Rhoads can focus on taking care of Stacey! Even $5 goes a long way.
