Please help Ron's Dream of Maui Pasta stay alive and well during this difficult time.  He has been stricken with metastatic melanoma and is fighting for his life, while the rest of us can help fight to keep Maui Pasta Company   alive and well.  If you could read our story, pass it along, and if you are able, donate to us, we will offer you some special goodies from Maui Pasta for your support!

Our Journey...
In 2012, Ron and I started making pasta to sell to raise money for our daughter's trip to Europe with her King K Spanish Club. Having studied two years in Italy, I was excited to share my pasta with our upcountry community.  It did really well in the driveway, so we decided to move to the Farmer's Market and Pukalani Superette, who welcomed our brand new wholesale business.  It was at that store that Foodland representatives saw our product, and asked if we would be part of the new Foodland Kehalani store.  This gave us the opportuning to lease our own kitchen open our own small retail shop... our dream!

The big opening was May 11, 1015, and we were welcomed by the wonderful Waikapu community.  This location also gave us easy access to the organic herbs and vegetables of Kumu Farms, across the street at the Tropical Plantation.

We began to spread the word about our Take Out Window, and soon we realized we needed to open a small store to showcase our pastamaking, and allow customers not only to order hot take-away meals, but also purchase fresh pasta, sauces, dips, baked goods, and desserts, especially our famous cheesecake!  So, early in July 2015, we opened the doors to our factory!  With my passion and love of Italian food, and Ron's background in running businesses and in accounting, Our e-Harmony romance and marriage of 10 years proved symbiotic yet again -- our skills worked perfectly together to make Maui Pasta grow!

In the evening, Ron and I were the "dynamic duo", with me as the chef, ron as the plater and expediter, and we would be able to interact and meet our community who were coming over to pick up dinner.  He has also been our Ravioli-Maker-Extrordiaire, making sometimes over a hundred pounds of ravioli each week, my ingredient-shopping buddy, delivery man, and so much more.

Until last month.  By Christmas, Ron was even more exhausted than usual, needing more time to get to work, and needing to leave early, with a lump developing under his arm.  By the time we made it to Connecticut for a family Christmas, where this photo was taken, we started seeing the melanoma take over his skin within days, and he needed to sleep much of our trip.  We suspected the worst.  And by the end of January, a crisis predicated a call to 911, and a full diagnosis which was worse than we had feared, metastatic melanoma to the brain and lungs, with tumors pressing on his brain stem, causing excruciating non-stop headaches.

I have been trying my best to run the business and keep our dream alive, but I had to close while the crisis occurred, and my social media  posting has suffered, and bills are piling up, for both the business and us personally.

All funds raised will be used to keep Maui Pasta's doors open, and help us grow past this hard time during Ron's fight for his life.  I want him to know his dream is still alive.  He has always been so passionate about his love for Maui and providing local, fresh, and delicious sustanence for our community.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and Ron's, for your kind support to give Ron something to fight to return to!

Please also send him all the love, prayers, and strength that he needs to fight another day.
