Heart of a champion Randi Foukas

On August 23, 2018, just one week after giving birth to beautiful, full-term, identical twin girls, Randi suffered a heart attack. Diagnosed with a very rare medical condition called SCAD, the Foukas family thought they had experienced the worst of an unfortunate complication due to childbirth. Little did they know it was just the beginning to a very scary and hard turn of events for their little family.
One week after returning home from her hospital stay from heart attack number one, Randi was rushed to the Emergency Room again, suffering another heart attack. This time doctors weren’t as confident she was going to return home to her babies and two older children.
After being life flighted to University of Utah, Randi underwent emergency open-heart surgery to save her life. By the time doctors got her on the operating table, she was crashing (her heart was stopped). It is truly a miracle she survived the 5 hour surgery and is recovering at Univerity of Utah Hospital today! We know that our angel mother and friend, Joan Kottraba, has been watching out and assisting with all the miracles and tender mercies that have happened in the three short weeks since the twins were sent from her presence in Heaven.
Although Randi is recovering well and is expected to come home soon, she has a very long recovery ahead of her. Many doctor visits and and a lifetime of follow-up care will be needed.
The Foukas family has been Extremely grateful for all of the love and support that has been shown to them already. We are setting up this account (unbeknownst to Chris and Randi) as a way for anyone who is wondering how they may help with easing the stress and burden of this challenging time. Chris’s company has generously allowed him to stay home and focus on Randi’s recovery and care for his family for a period of time. All of these funds will allow the family to completely focus on Randi’s recovery and only that.
