Brandon and Nicole Smith

November 8, 2015 is the day that Brandon Smith and his family will always remember! On that day, Brandon fell 20 feet from a tree and broke his fibula, tibia, crushed his ankle and dislocated his foot. He went into emergency surgery to fix all the breaks and to relocate his foot. The doctor placed 9 screws and one plate on one bone and 2 screws on the other. When surgery was over Brandon and his family were so thankful that everything was ok and that he was alive. They also felt that they could put all of this behind them, or so they thought. The 2 screws that were placed were rejected by his body and had to be removed and replaced with 5 screws and another plate! Those had to be removed in August 2016 to begin the road to recovery so Brandon could get back to work to provide for his family. That did not happen. He has been suffering with many, many infections in his body, blood, and bone which has generated so many more surgeries. As of now, April 24, 2017, Brandon still has not been able to return to work and is scheduled for his 8th surgery on May 18, 2017, which we are being told by the doctors that this one will be the worst and longest recovery yet! With their two youngest children being 1 and 2, they only remember their daddy being in the hospital and not spending time at home with them. Throughout this whole process over the last year and a half, Brandon has spent over 30 overnight stays in the hospital. With all this being said, we are asking for help with finances.
This is not something that the Smith family wanted to do but they have been living on 20% of Brandon’s pay for the last 18 months and with 5 children, 4 at home, things have been very tight. This next surgery, hopefully the last we pray, will keep Brandon in therapy for 3 more months. We are asking to help them during this last portion of his healing and to take some stress away financially. Stress prevents from healing and we want Brandon to be able to rest and heal, without worrying about making ends meet every month.
If you know Brandon, he will give a stranger the shirt off his back and help anyone and everyone at the drop of a hat as he has done for me so many times. I am sure many of you can think of multiple times Brandon, Nicole, or their family have helped you. This family is near and dear to so many and have helped so many people, it is time for us to return the favor and help them!
