As some of you know on the evening of May 15th Amber Weisel was traumatically attacked by a dog, leaving her with one splinted right arm and a below the elbow amputation on her left arm. The event lasted for 20-25 minutes where Amber was alone and unable to call 911 herself. Thankfully a neighbor eventually heard and called 911. She was rushed to the emergency room at Eskenazi hospital where she immediately entered a 9 hour surgery to try to save her hand. They used a donor vessel from her leg and placed it in the left arm to restore blood flow but the vessel clotted and Amber was taken into yet another surgery to see if there was anything else the surgeons could do. This unfortunately led to her having amputation as there was too much trauma to the circulation. Amber was released on May 24th after more than 20 hours of surgery’s, multiple days in the ICU, round after round of antibiotics, and many extensive treatments. Thankfully she is now healing in the comfort of her home. This healing process is both mental and physical and the support she has received is tremendous. As Amber adjusts to her new life the reality of the medical bills and the price of a prosthetic become real as she is unable to return to her job at this time. I wanted to start this go fund me to try to help Amber and her family financially in such a traumatic time. Any help will be distributed to a prosthetic and therapy costs.
