Homeward Bound

Hello all,

As some friends and family may have heard, my partner and I have moved back to the northeast due to completely unforeseen circumstances. We were not refunded our rent paid despite only being housed for over a week, and had to drive back home from Florida with essentially the clothes on our backs. 

Luckily, we have AMAZING friends and family who helped us financially and emotionally throughout this trip as well as now, and for that we are entirely grateful. Who knows what could or would have happened without them! We have been blessed with so much support, and outpouring of love. 

Unfortunately, while we had interviews lined up in Florida with the intention of gainful employment. However due to our needed leave from a hostile environment, we are now broke and back at square one.  We had begun to settle into our new life, and then everything came crashing down. It became so despairing that my mental health declined rapidly, due to the stress and financial constraints we had found ourselves in.

To add insult to injury: Jake became seriously ill during our journey, therefore leading to a hospitalization in the southern states (don’t worry; not corona). This caused us to need to spend more resources on keeping the animals fed and happy, keeping ourselves fed, filling the gas tank several times, and having a place to lay our heads while we tried to figure out why Jake had gotten so sick.

While we were able to stay afloat on the road thanks to the kindness of those closest to us, we now have no money for anything that we need: gas, bills, medications (which are absolutely necessary for us), and want to make sure we can stock up on pet food/litter for our fur babies. (They deserve all the treats for having rode along with us for 23 hours). I want to be able to get us through this month, or hopefully until we are able to gain employment and stabilize.

I was hesitant to create another one of these due to the fact that these are scary and financially difficult times for everyone.
