Masters Studies at Queens CollegeNY

Donation protected
Hi everyone! Thank you already for even just viewing my gofundme page. Here is a brief autobiography and summary of the funds I am in the process of raising...

I am Miriam, a 23 year old cellist from the Peak District currently living and working in Manchester. I have this year graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a 1st class Honours Degree and now looking to further my studies of Masters with the fantastic teacher Marcy Rosen at the Queens College, New York. Being from a musical family, my love of music is deeply rooted within my genes and will remain one of the most important things in my life. Since starting the Cello at the age of 4, I have been successful in a variety of opportunities given to me while in my study years. I have played the following concertos with orchestras: Haydn C and D, Schumann, Elgar, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi double and Saint Saëns, and have been awarded 3 prizes: the John Webster Memorial prize, the Amy Lindley prize and the Hirsch prize. I have also been successful in gaining an Erasmus year place at the Folkwang University of the Arts, Germany and receiving valuable lessons and masterclasses with incredible musicians such as Miklos Perenyi, Ralph Kirshbaum, Steven Doan, Sally Pendlebury, Eleanor Kellett, Hannah Roberts, Sandy Bailey, Nicholas Trygstad, Anna Shuttleworth, Sue Lowe, Tim Lowe, Karine Georgian, Emma Ferrand, Leandro Silvera and Pierre Doumenge.

I feel incredibly fortunate and grateful for all the support and opportunities people have given me over these crucial years, aiding me in beginning my career as a cellist and musician. Having been strongly advised by most of my teachers to go and study in the US if ever given the opportunity, I feel that this is truly the next and only step to push myself in becoming the best musician I can be. I believe that the making and sharing of music is the most extraordinary thing a person can experience. With a growing world of poverty and despair, music can be our saviour in helping us relate to one another through emotions, reminding us of the great and wonderful things in life. This phenomenon whereby expressing my talent and passion can reach and enrich the quality of others’ lives makes me determined to work hard and broaden my knowledge as much as I possibly can.

The £20,000 includes both University fees and living costs for the 1st year of my Masters. I am looking at other avenues for living through various contacts and friends of friends, however not had any luck as of yet so need to consider it as part of my budget.  Any donations will be drastically helpful and please don't hesitate to contact me for anything from more info to possibly attaining future concerts of mine. I would also love to broaden my contacts, uniting and sharing music with musicians all over the world, so even if you don't want to donate, please still get in touch!

Thank you again for visiting and reading my page :)
