Levanta a cabeça.

Estamos a angariar 128 000 €.

Uma partilha leva o Xavi a pessoas a quem nós nunca chegaríamos.

Obrigado por conhecerem o nosso Xavi Lo

Hello! We are Xavi’s parents.

Xavier is 4 years old, the youngest of four siblings, and the happiest little boy we know. He loves water, he loves music, and he always wants to be right in the middle of everything his brothers are doing.

Xavi has a global developmental delay affecting his psychomotor development. We have gone through every test available, countless appointments, hospital stays, and years of searching for answers, but no one has been able to tell us why. A medical board has officially recognized him as having an 80% disability. His body does not always respond to him easily. Every movement that is automatic for us is something he has had to work incredibly hard to achieve.

But Xavi keeps moving forward. He undergoes intensive rehabilitation in Guimarães, Portugal, for several weeks each year. He also receives speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy every week at his school, and we are seeing results. After one of his intensive therapy periods, his school wrote that he had developed better control of his hands, more interaction with others, and a greater interest in exploring his toys. He can sit independently for longer and longer periods. He turns himself over and tries to sit up. He lifts his head. He smiles when he looks at us. He says “mama” and “dada,” and those are the most beautiful sounds in our home. Every one of these achievements has taken months of hard work.

During the first years of a child’s life, the brain has an incredible ability to learn and develop that becomes much harder to replicate later. The earlier we work with him, the more he responds. Xavi is 4 years old, and every month that passes is a month we can never get back. We are raising €128,000. This is what the next step in Xavi’s journey will cost: the rehabilitation and therapies he already receives, an intensive specialized rehabilitation program abroad involving two months of daily therapy, as well as the travel and accommodation needed to make it possible. The fundraising platform also deducts a small fee from each donation, which is already included in this amount.

We are not promising a cure. But what we do know is this: When Xavi works, he progresses. And we want to give him every hour of rehabilitation we possibly can.

Xavi continues to be followed by specialists in pediatric neurology, developmental pediatrics, and physical medicine and rehabilitation through the public healthcare system in Portugal, and he will continue to receive that care. What we are seeking outside the public system is the intensive, daily therapy that is not covered.

We are here to answer any questions you may have about Xavi, and we will continue to keep you updated through his official pages. Please ask us anything. And if one day we go beyond our fundraising goal, the money will still have a purpose. Xavi will need intensive rehabilitation for many years to come.

If you are unable to help financially, please share his story. One share can take Xavi’s story to people we could never reach on our own.

Thank you for taking the time to meet our Xavi Lo.
