Evie's Surgery

Hi everyone,

 

If you know me personally then you almost certainly know my Pomeranian sidekick and best friend, Evie.

 

Evie is 13 but still acts like a puppy. She is healthy and full of energy and is an unending source of joy for everyone she meets. She loves all humans and all humans love her back. I have been so lucky to be her human and I thank her everyday for being my dog.

 

I'm very sad to report that Evie fell trying to climb into our bathtub this week. When my husband Jarrod found her she had defecated from the pain of the fall and her right leg was hanging lifeless. She was rushed to the vet where they had to sedate her in order to take x-rays as the pain from her hip was too much for her to allow the vet to touch her hip. The x-rays showed that her hip was badly dislocated, but that the hip itself was in excellent shape. She was put under anesthetic and our vet attempted to re-place her hip, but without success.

 

We were then sent to a surgeon where they attempted to re-place it once more, but also could not get the hip to stay in place and Evie was sent for surgery. Thankfully the surgery went well and we are told she should recover well in a few months. The surgeon said that it was critical to the success of the surgery that we brought her in so quickly but it has been a whirlwind 3 days.

 

This was an extraordinary and unexpected expense for Jarrod and I that has more than exhausted our savings. We are asking for help in offsetting the cost of the vet bills, which total over $8000. It is very difficult for me to ask for help and we greatly appreciate anything you are able to give.
