Hi!

My friend Mark needs our help. Please read his story. Mark is a 52 year old husband to his wife Teresa, who is always chronically disabled, and to his adult son Marcus who lives in the home. Marc is employed as refrigeration technician at a food processing plant.

Almost 4 months ago he started having issues. Could not use the bathroom or his legs. He ended up local medical emergency department and by days end he was completely paralyzed from the waste down. He was otherwise strong and healthy prior to this event in September 2020.

After undergoing physical therapy he had moved from a wheelchair to a walker and now to a cane. He continues to be in extreme amounts of pain and had bowel and bladder dysfunction causing him to have use a Foley catheter for the past 4 months. He has undergone extensive diagnostic testing with more to come and recently had an emergency surgery and needs more surgeries in the future.

Although he has insurance his medical bills and past due household bills are mounting. His employers short term disability has now ended, and no longer has income coming in. During all of this he also had a kidney stone attack where they found35 kidney stones which required emergency surgery to put stents in his kidneys.

He has been scheduled for attentional surgery for his kidneys, this was unrelated and separate issue to his initial problem. Although his neurologist believes his diagnosis leans towards issue of the Central Nervous System is the spine, his physician is referring him to Neurologist and Musculoskeletal specialist at a larger medical facility out of town.

The gas expense and possible overnight stay, will cause and attentional hardship on the family. Mark has worked since his he was 15 years old and never been out of work.

This has been a horrible event for Mark and his family. As it has taken a physical, emotional, and financial toll on him
and his family. Additionally, his medical event happened during a global pandemic.Where he must risk going to doctors and hospitals with a weakened immune with potential exposure to COVID. Now that Christmas is approaching it’s especially difficult.

Marks son and his wife are trying to handle family bills and expenses, however they are struggling. Marks doctors believe he will be out of work for at least another several months. Any amount that can be donated to help Mark and his family is very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
