Ryan's Early Intervention Fund

Donation protected

Ryan was diagnosed with Autism, a global developmental delay and a language impairment in August 2014 at 3 years old.

Ryan is ineligible for Government Support through the National Disability Insurance Scheme because he has New Zealand Citizenship by Descent, despite being born in Australia and never living a day in his life outside of it.

Ryan’s parents, who moved from New Zealand in 2007, are considered Australian residents for tax purposes and are required the pay the increased levy to fund the scheme but can’t access it for Ryan’s disability supports and interventions.

Ryan will become an Australian Citizen in 2021 when he reaches 10 years of age.  Research has shown that interventions in the early years of development can lead to less interventions needed as they grow older.

At present we are able to access a local government funded playgroup but have very limited one-on-one therapies due to their cost.

While Ryan's development is progressing on a regular basis, we fear that without key interventions, he will fall further behind his peers.

We are raising funds to go towards essential therapies, such as one-on-one speech and occupational therapy and any other therapies he may need in the lead up to Ryan beginning preschool in 2016.
