Life Exploded Fund

Heddo! Some of you may know me as Aryadna on Forward Motion chat or forums. Others know me as Jessica Montgomery. I am 35, disabled, and life just exploded.

It started June 3rd. I had just gotten paid and went to get some groceries. I went to stop at a stop sign, and the brakes on my van went out. No big deal. I know how to drive without brakes enough to get home safely. I took it first to Flynn's Tire for an estimate. After two hours waiting, the poor desk clerk came over and explained to me that not only did my van need 25 feet of brake line, but it also needed part of the muffler replaced, two holes (the size of my open hand) in the frame repaired, and engine repairs for it to pass inspection at the end of the month.

Being the good girl my mechanic daddy taught me to be, I took it to Mark's Auto for a second opinion. Mark always takes care of me, and doesn't treat me like I don't know anything about vehicles just because I'm a woman. Rather than coming out and telling me, his guys came to the waiting room and took me under my van to show me what was wrong.

The holes are indeed the size of my open hand. The brake lines are indeed rusted through. The muffler indeed was arc welded poorly and needs cut off and replaced. Though, they added that the muffler was so rusted that it would do good to replace the whole exhaust system (though not yet necessary to pass inspection). After chatting with them for fifteen minutes and being shown everything, they told me simply that my 2003 Kia Sedona is not worth fixing.

Not worth fixing. Well, crap. Mark, being the awesome guy he is, is willing to buy my hunk of junk off me and help me with a new vehicle, but I just don't have the money up front, nor do I have the income to make monthly payments.

Then, last week, life exploded again. Lightning struck my trailer and fried most of my electronics. Being the good girl my daddy raised me, I have renter's insurance. (Updated July 4th) However, I learned today that my claim has been denied. I was going to switch from my fried desktop to my old laptop to keep writing my stories, and use the insurance money to get myself into a vehicle. Now, I'm out of options.

I said at the start that I am disabled. This includes bipolar disorder, social anxiety disorder, general anxiety disorder, and clinical depression. I need a reliable vehicle to get back and forth to monthly doctor's appointments and to weekly therapy appointments. I need it to get groceries twice a month. I need it to see my autistic son who lives with my parents an hour's drive away (due to my disability).

Being disabled, and unable to get a job, I am unable to dig myself out of this crater, and I need your help.

I welcome any questions you may have, and thank you so much for your support. If you can't donate, you can help just by spreading the word.

Thank you, and God bless.
