Help Filling in the Gaps in American History (FIGAH) become more secure and grow

Filling in the Gaps in American History (FIGAH) researches and shares information on people of African descent who do not usually appear in text books to provide a more inclusive view of history and ourselves. We have presented to audiences from pre-K to senior citizens at schools, churches, colleges, libraries, museums, community organizations, outdoor community events, on talk radio and public television shows through the use of story telling, workshops, dramatic reenactments, Power Point presentations, interactive exercises, panel discussions and Facebook postings. FIGAH was formally incorporated in New York State in 2006, has no paid staff, recycles profits from the sale of books, DVDs, historical prints, knowledge cards, postcards, calendars, etc. to purchase basic office supplies and more merchandise.

You donation will help rebuild the FIGAH website with even more information on the lives of women, men and children that are not taught in schools and how historical events that are taught were experienced by people of African descent in the Americas. I have notes that need to be expanded into essays, fact sheets or activities, updated links to additional resources and want to include lots of interactive features and suggestions on how to use the material to augment what various curricula offer.

We also need to replace a 10x10 canopy for outdoor events along with sign holders and a printed table cover.

Finally if enough funds allow, we would like to file the required paperwork with the IRS to become a 501(c)3 corporation to make us eligible to apply for educational and cultural grants.

Thank you in advance for whatever level of support you can provide to help FIGAH continue and move forward.
