My Journey with Colon Cancer
My name is Lawrence V McNeil Jr. I am 54 years old.
I am happily married to my beautiful wife for 21 years, raising 2 beautiful grandchildren ages 7 and 8.
And also have 3 grown children Roman 30, Aneya 26 and Marquis 27. Trying to maintain a living, I was
diagnosed in 2010 with stage 3b Colon Cancer to which I’m currently being treated at UC Health
Anschutz Cancer Center in Aurora, Colorado. After this news my life was totally changed in an instant! I
had no idea that what I was going to experience and try and live through would become the most
difficult experience that I could ever imagine.
When this started, I had had my colon resected in 2011. A serious surgery procedure performed on
colon cancer patients along with chemo and radiation. Surgery was performed the day after I was
diagnosed, a chemo port was the first procedure, I then was offered and opportunity to go to the Cancer
Centers of America to which we left for Philadelphia to start their treatment program after I started and
Anschutz. I then adopted shared Oncology treatments and care between the two hospitals. Shortly after
my resection and recovery, I went into remission in 2013 for a short period of time. Since 2013 to
current, I have periodic colon balloon dilations due to side effects from former radiation treatments.
This is a procedure performed to help with intestinal shrinking. So, after a short remission break in 2014
the cancer was back, but now had started metastasizing to my liver. I then experienced a blood clot due
to my chemo port which meant I had to go back into surgery to remove and replace the port. After this, I
had a liver resection surgery to have 60% of my liver removed.
I went to Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia for 1 year back and forth still having to go
back to Anschutz Center intermittently. After treatment there I went into another short remission in
2016.
Now in 2017 cancer was back again, but this time in both my lungs. I had to have surgery to remove
tumor in one lung. Total surgeries four.
This was cancelled due to another tumor they happened to thankfully, but sadly discovered around the
renal vein to the kidneys. So unfortunately, I went back on chemo. This tumor is now currently growing
again. I took a little break about 6 weeks ago but here we go again now it growing again.
2019 diagnosed with Chemo for life
The chemo’s I’m administered are 4: Folfiri, Cetuximab, Irinotecan and 5-Fluorouracil
My treatment schedule consists of monthly treatment of these four different chemo’s all at once, I start
at approx. 10-11 am and complete about 5-6pm a full day session of chemo. After the chair dosage I
wear a chemo pack home for 3 days-2 nights. My treatments are becoming more of challenge and
debilitating.
Now I have a home nurse who comes once a week.
I have scans every 3 months since 2011 to current
My oncologist stated I would have to be on maintenance chemo for the rest of my life if I don’t find a
cure. That right if you notice I said, “If I don’t find a cure”. Here in the United States there are laws that

prohibit doctors to claim they have a cure for cancer. You must be your own advocate and take control
of your health care today, especially when you’re facing the challenge that you’re so desperately trying
to do whatever it takes to stay alive and find a cure. So, I have found a couple of Cancer centers outside
of the US that are in Mexico that claim and document countless cure cases. These trips; The CHIPSA
Center and the Hoxsey Cancer Clinic. The main problem for all cancer patients is the cost (approx. 50-
100k) for cancer treatment and the medication. These out of country centers do not except US
insurances. Therefore, my family and myself are looking for the opportunity to go to one of these
centers before I succumb to this disease. I pray the Lord will provide a long waited and currently waiting
patiently for a true heavenly blessing to be able to attend one of these facilities.

I will continue to pray for cures for cancer and one day to be cancer free.
