Queensland flood relief

Donation protected
Jock Triggs, Charlie Paton and myself, Mimi, are trying to raise money and awareness as a community to donate to the local Queensland farmers that are suffering emotionally, mentally and financially to keep their livestock alive.

As most of you are aware there has been a catastrophic flood in Far North Queensland.  The disaster covers an area nearly the size of Victoria and the people up there are in a whole world of pain. Some farmers have lost 100% percent of stock including much loved horses and their entire herd of cattle. These herds don’t just appear out of no where.  They take years and years of hard work to build up. Some herds have taken generations to get to where they were. Mother nature in the cruellest way dealt these amazing people one of the toughest blows they will ever know.

Charlie Paton has a sister (Anna CGS 2014-2017) who has been working on a station north of Julia Creek. This is one of the areas hardest hit by the flood. She has seen firsthand the devastation that has been created.

No cattle means no work.  No income for some families for up to 3 years. These families suffer terribly. Some kids can’t go to school. They are some of the toughest, hardest working people in this country and they don’t like hand outs.

We want to help them as much as we can.  We can’t bring their cows back, or their horses, or their dogs, nor their fences. However we can show them that down in the south of this wonderful country there is a school called Caulfield Grammar School, and the wider community, who wants to make a change. In this community, there are some kind hearted generous people that really do care what has happened in their own “backyard”. Please let’s show these wonderful people living all the way up there how we have been thinking of them and how much we want to do something to help them recover.

The money we raise will be given to the Julia Creek co-op, which is the area that has been dramatically affected by this disaster. This money will be initially transferred to Amy Paton from the gofundme account, who will give this money in a cheque to the Julia Creek co-op.
